the base for a peaceful world? the environment!

Hey guys,

This is Maren, the German one, working for Global FOCUS. I just wanted to tell you that I had a great time together with you and that I am impressed by your engagement and motivation. I hope that you can realize all the projects you planned at the junior branch meeting and that you keep up your good mood. Although we are working in different organizations, we all strive for a better world. Peace education and climate change awareness are not as separated from each other as you may think.

Many people see climate change as a subject separated from peace but the consequences of climate change could highly affect the peace on earth. Some counties would profit, others would suffer from global warming, which implicates raising advantages respectively disadvantages. This inequality could lead to broad emigrations and immigrations or even higher the disparity between developed and developing countries because especially the southern countries and therefore economies are negatively affected when it comes to climate change. A stable environment is the base for a peaceful world.

It is always great to see young people engaged in making this world a better place in any kind of way and all you guys, attending the junior branch meeting of CISV have great ideas to lead this world in the right direction. Keep up the great engagement!
