We all know how Mondays can be a bit depressing sometimes...
Well, guess what, now Mondays can become your most exciting day of the week. Sort of.
Here's the deal: Meat Free Monday.
The facts on a plate:
Most of us associate the climate crisis with oil companies, airports and car manufacturers. It’s only recently that the globalised food system, which also relies on vast fossil fuel inputs at every stage, has been shown to produce as much as one-third of our total global greenhouse gas emissions. Livestock production is responsible for a significant proportion of these emissions.
Did you know? Livestock production is responsible for more climate change GHG emissions globally than transportation!
Crazy, huh? I would have never guessed...
We can help slow climate change by having at least one meat free day every week.
Come on, it's not that hard. A person who has been raised in a super meat-eating environment is telling you this! hahaIn CISV we always talk about how much CO2 emissions we are generating with all this flying... What if we had Meat Free Mondays at programmes?
Something to think about.
In any case, I'm having a Meat Free Monday today. How about you?
The more people that take part the greater the impact, so get your family, friends, workplace, school, restaurant, shop involved!
There are lots of posters, recipes and other cool campaign-material at their website (including Paul McCartney singing his Meat Free Monday song).
If you find this interesting, please share it with your JBs!
Lots of Meat Free Monday love,
Maru, IJR, Argentina
